THANKFUL SUBMISSION
– Submission to Family

SCRIPTURE READING
Genesis 18:18-19 (NIV); “Abraham will surely become a great and powerful nation, and all nations on earth will be blessed through him. For I have chosen him, so that he will direct his children and his household after him to keep the way of the LORD by doing what is right and just, so that the LORD will bring about for Abraham what he has promised him.”

Family is so important to God. As husband and wife, Adam and Eve’s chief job was procreation – to bring forth godly offspring. As parents, we need to keep this calling at the forefront of our minds. As single adults, we need to remember the family unit that we are a part of. Paul told Timothy to set an example for all Believers, even if they were older than him.

We need to allow God to use our families in the expansion of His Kingdom. This takes effort, creativity and obedience. It is so easy to come home after a day of work and turn on the TV or at least turn off our brains with the intent to “relax.” However, true submission is obedience, and God wants to use our families to impact those around us. Besides, Jesus said that His yoke is easy and His burden light, so when we submit to His promptings, we will actually find more rest! This is one thing to say and another to believe, but if we truly have faith, it will be followed by action.

PRAYER & MEDITATION
1. Set aside time to pray about how God wants to use your family to submit to Christ  in the advancement of His Kingdom:
    a. If you are married without kids, pray with your spouse about how he wants the two of you to be an influential couple.
    b. If you have kids, pray about how God wants to use you as a family. Ask Him to show you how it will impact them.
    c. If you are single or if you don’t really have family, ask Jesus who He wants  you to partner with to make a difference.

2. Ask the Spirit for SPECIFIC, CREATIVE and ACTIVE ways that you can make a difference for His kingdom.
