Gospel Reading Plan: John 13-15

Paul’s First Letter to the Corinthians: DAY 4
READ 1 Corinthians 2:6-16
In your journal, write down the things that stick out to you from today’s Bible reading. Respond to what God shows you as you feel led.

In this passage, Paul gives the readers a little peek of what is behind the veil of this life. The “secret and hidden wisdom of God” (v 7) Paul speaks of includes God’s plan from the creation of the world to the future hope of eternal life, all of which is centred around and made possible by Jesus’ work on the cross. And this, Paul says, is for OUR glory! Why? Because through the wisdom of God we are offered eternal life! Verse 9 is the peek behind the curtain, the glimpse of a promise of heaven. What glorious anticipation of heaven comes when we read this verse in context!

PRAYER AND MEDITATION
1.   Why do you think Paul chose to share this with the Corinthian church? How would it have helped them in their divisive struggles with jealousy and comparison?
2.   Take time today to just think on who God is. What does this passage reveal to you about His character and His ways? Worship Him for what He shows you by writing out a prayer of thanksgiving in your journal.
3.  Choose a verse that has really struck you from the past four days that you would like to memorize and spend time hiding that verse in your heart.
