END TIMES READING PLAN: Revelation 10-11
SCRIPTURE READING
1 Timothy 1:15-17 (NIV); Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on him and receive eternal life. Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.
If there was something to be undisputed, Paul said, it was the fact that “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.” Paul understood the true grace of God – the completely undeserved forgiveness and restoration offered by God. Was he truly the “worst of all sinners”? No. This is a title held by each one of us, since even one sin carries with it a wage of death. Paul had a firm grasp on what he had been saved from. He had lived a hostile life, persecuting those he now deemed his brothers and sisters in Christ, but He embraced fully the grace that God offered and did not look back.
All of us have moments, seasons, and perhaps years that we would like to forget. But it is no lie when the Scriptures say, “There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” God’s grace is not a trite thing. It is powerful. HE is powerful. As Paul declared, He is the King eternal, immortal, invisible, and the only God who deserves honor and glory forever! He truly is worthy to be praised!
PRAYER and MEDITATION
1) Is there any past sin that you are struggling to get over? Anything that has you steeped in guilt or shame? Spend some time in prayer about this thing. Is there anything that has gone unconfessed? Is the Lord is asking you to do something? Ask the Lord to speak into this situation and to help you find lasting freedom from guilt and shame.
2) On the other hand, some of us read the words of the passage mechanically, knowing we’re sinners but not looking for sin in our lives. Ask the Spirit to search your heart of unconfessed sin.
3) Spend a significant amount of time meditating on the verse above. You may want to start at verse 12 in the chapter. Journal how the Lord speaks to you. Finish your time today by meditating on the final sentence. Praise God for these qualities of His.
