NEW TESTAMENT READING PLAN: 1 Corinthians 1-4
SCRIPTURE READING
Psalm 36:5-7 (NIV); Your love, O LORD, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies.
Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your justice like the great deep. O LORD, you
preserve both man and beast. How priceless is your unfailing love! Both high and low among
men find refuge in the shadow of your wings.
God’s love is really awesome. Paul told the Romans that it is God’s kindness that leads us to
repentance. We can confess our sins and turn from our ways because He is so loving to take us
back and to empower us to do His will! We focus much on unveiling the false teachings of cheap
grace and “once-saved-always-saved” but this must not be seen as a belittlement of God’s love!
It is because of God’s love that we can be saved! It is because of God’s love that we can repent
of our sin and find freedom! His warnings and even His discipline reveal His love.
But God also wants to speak His love into your life. He is gentle and merciful and He wants to
reveal the feelings He holds for you.
We are called to love others, be it our best friends or our greatest enemies. We need to love
others with the love of Christ. But how can we do this if we do not know the love of Christ? How
can we love others unconditionally if we do not have a grasp on God’s unconditional love for
us? If God had revealed His love through the cross alone, it would be enough, but He has given
us SO many blessings above and beyond that, and He actually wants to reveal details of the
love that He has for you as an individual. What an incredible Father!
PRAYER and MEDITATION
1. Take a few moments to meditate on the above verse and how it speaks to you.
2. Spend time listening to God about His love for you. Ask Him specific questions such as:
How are you proud of me?
What do you enjoy watching me do?
What talent do you love to see me use?
What is a gift you’ve given me that I should be tapping into?
Show me a picture of your love.
