SCRIPTURE READING
Eph 2:8-9 8For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is
the gift of God, 9not a result of works, so that no one may boast. (ESV)
If we are going to come to a proper understanding of grace then we need to look at the topic
of salvation. Many Christians quote Ephesians 2:8-9 saying “I’ve been saved by grace.”
Unfortunately, few know what that actually means. What has grace saved me from? What has
grace saved me for? Did Grace save me in the past or will it save me in the future? These are
very important questions to understand grace properly. They are also extremely important
questions for understanding what the Christian life is about and what God expects from us and
how we can find assurance of salvation. Over the next few days we will be looking at these
things in order to get a deeper understanding of grace.
PRAYER and MEDITATION
1. Go back over the last few weeks of devotionals. Are there any steps of obedience that
God has revealed to you that you have struggled putting into practice? Spend some time
praying about these things, asking God to help you obey Him in these areas.
2. Reflect upon what God has already been teaching you about grace. How have your
beliefs about grace changed? Do you feel like you have a fuller understanding of grace
now?
3. Thank the Lord for His grace, for His desire to help you grow and mature. Praise Him for
His forgiveness and for the many blessings in your life.
