God is wise
Romans 11:33-36 Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How
unsearchable His judgments, and His paths beyond tracing out! 34 “Who has known the mind
of the Lord? Or who has been His counselor?” 35“Who has ever given to God, that God should
repay Him?” 36 For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory
forever! Amen.
God is infinitely wise. The testimony of faith is that no matter how things look in this fallen
world, all God’s acts are made in perfect wisdom. The incarnation of Jesus in flesh, the cross
and the resurrection were all parts of God’s perfect plan. God’s wise plan includes atonement,
the sending of the Holy Spirit, the ultimate overthrowing of evil and the final establishment of
His Kingdom on earth. There is no flaw in God’s ways. We must hold onto the wisdom of God
in our everyday lives by exercising faith. Our Heavenly Father constantly spreads around us
providential circumstances that work for our present good. Many people go through life praying
a little, planning a little but never being quite certain of anything. Many are secretly afraid they
will miss out but there is a better way to live. We must leave at the foot of the cross our own
wisdom and take instead the wisdom of God. We must let Jesus be the functional Lord of our
lives by letting Him take over the management of our lives. What happens when we let God
lead our lives? Isaiah tells us; 16 I [God] will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along
unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the
rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them (42:16).
PRAYER and MEDITATION
1. In what ways have you been keeping the control of your life instead of trusting and
submitting to God? Ask the Lord to show you a specific circumstance where you trusted in
yourself (your planning, etc.) instead of submitting to Him and letting Him lead. Confess as
necessary.
2. Spend some time thanking the Lord for His infinite wisdom. Pray that you would leave your
plans at the foot of the cross and submit fully to Him.
3. Pray that as a church we would submit and follow God’s wise plans.
