SCRIPTURE READING
John 14:15-23 ”If you love me, you will obey what I command…Whoever has my
commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me… If anyone loves me, he will
obey my teaching.”

We must love God on His terms, not our terms. Jesus wants love from us that allows Him
to take over our lives. There are many definitions of love in our culture and the culture of
the church but God’s definition of love includes obedience.
Many are searching to know the will of God. God’s will is to strengthen the response of
our heart to Him in love. This is more important to Him than our ministry assignment, job,
success rate etc. Jesus is after our hearts. He wants to wake us up to reveal and impart
His love to us. Everything that God does He does for love.
The greatest call in ministry is to wholehearted love of God. You can be one of the greatest
people in history simply by living in deep love for God. You won’t be the most famous but
you can be one of the greatest.

PRAYER and MEDITATION
1. Ask God to reveal to you in what areas He has called you to obey but you have had
trouble obeying? Ask for specific examples. Confess as necessary.
2. How do you feel about God calling you to wholehearted love for Him? Are you willing to
let God take over your life and submit to Him?
3. Write a prayer telling God how you feel about all of this. Tell Him if you have any
reservations and ask Him to increase your desire to love Him more.
