END TIMES READING PLAN: Luke 17, 21

SCRIPTURE READING
Luke 19:17 And he said to him “Well done, good servant; because you were faithful in a very
little, have authority over ten cities”

God has called us to be faithful over small things, which tells us that small things are relevant
because they are esteemed and remembered by God. He evaluates and rewards our lives
in eternity based on the small things we have done in this age. This gives us a sense of
significance and has a powerful affect on our hearts, motivating us to pursue lasting impact in
this age and in the age to come.
We can easily become preoccupied with seeking what looks and feels significant to us while
devaluing faithfulness in the small things. Only a few people in history will have an international
platform like Billy Graham. Of the billions of people in history, all of them were called to be
faithful in small things; this is not synonymous with insignificance or irrelevance. God promises
that if we are faithful in the everyday mundane stuff he will esteem and remember that stuff
forever. We can make a lasting impact in God’s Kingdom by being faithful in small things.
God is looking for people who will partner with Him to bring about His purposes on Earth. God
has big plans for His people. God is looking for people who want to make a deep and lasting
impact, people who will partner with Him on a level far exceeding just working a job or pursuing
personal happiness. It doesn’t matter how small the task, if it is done out of a heart of love for
Jesus, it will be rewarded.
Matthew 10:42 Whoever gives one of these little ones only a cup of cold water in the name of
a disciple, assuredly, I say to you, he shall by no means lose his reward.

PRAYER and MEDITATION
1. What small things has God been calling you to be faithful in? These could relate to
serving your family or serving in the church. It might also include other areas of obedience.
2. Are you willing to partner with God to bring about His purposes on Earth? What are you
going to have to sacrifice in order to make an eternal impact? Are you willing to follow His
path, even if you don’t get recognition?
3. Thank God that He remembers and rewards the small things, that even when we don’t
think we are making an impact, He remembers the intent of our heart to love and serve Him.
