END TIMES READING PLAN: Matthew 24 and Mark 13

SCRIPTURE READING
Matthew 22:37-40 Jesus said to them “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart,
with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the
second is like it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments
hang all the Law and the Prophets.

The time is coming when followers of God will follow Him with wholehearted love, not
mindless ritual or casual indifference. God is creating a people who love Him with all their
heart, mind, soul and strength. There is a joy and a power in being lovesick for Jesus.
Loyal, holy love frees us from the burnout of spiritual boredom.
Our emotional capacity for love is immense. We were created for love and God will
empower us to receive His love, love Him in return and love others. It’s the supernatural
work of the Holy Spirit that empowers us to walk in full obedience. Romans 5:5 The
love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit pours
God’s affection into the human heart regardless of personality type, history of bondage,
woundedness or brokenness. It’s a supernatural activity that transcends the human
condition.
The Gospel message of holiness is not centered around gritting our teeth and trying
harder. When a person’s heart is exhilarated by receiving holy love from Jesus and feeling
holy love toward Him, holiness is the result. When Jesus is our magnificent obsession,
material and peripheral rewards become secondary. We become powerful and fearless
in the grace of God when our primary purpose of loving God is fulfilled. Our greatest
reward in this love is being loved by and loving God because no matter what happens,
even if we lose everything, we still have Him. No pleasure is more satisfying than when
God communicates His love, His passion, His heart to your spirit. Nothing compares to
wholehearted love of God!

PRAYER and MEDITATION
1. Where are you at in your journey toward wholehearted love for God? Is this something
that you have ever thought about pursuing before?
2. Ask God to impart in you a deeper desire to walk in a love relationship with Jesus. Ask
Him to increase your capacity to experience His love, love Him back and then to
    love others.
3. Thank God for his endless love for you.
