Bible Poetry Reading Plan: Job 37-38
What Will We Do in Heaven?
Isaiah 9:7 His [Jesus] ever expanding, peaceful government will never end. He will rule forever
with fairness and justice from the throne of His ancestor David. (NLT)
The Bible’s picture of Heaven is a picture of resurrected people at work in a vibrant society on a
resurrected Earth. We’re going to help God run the universe! Work in Heaven won’t be frustrating
or fruitless; instead it will involve lasting accomplishment, unhindered by decay or fatigue and with
enhanced and unlimited resources. We’ll approach our work with enthusiasm and we’ll reign with
Christ and exercise authority, leadership and make important decisions. We’ll set goals, devise
plans and share ideas. Our best work days on this present earth cannot compare with the work
that we will do on the New Earth. What we are responsible for in the next age will be determined
by how we spend our time, money and resources in this age. What this means is that it is
important for us to steward our time, our talents and our lives well now because stewardship now
will be the only thing that limits you in the future. If God has given you children, parent them with
110% energy, to the best of your ability. With your money, with your time – be a steward now! It
affects your opportunity to discover and rule and learn in the Kingdom to come.
PRAYER and MEDITATION
1. Are you pursuing accomplishments on earth (that will fade) or are you living for lasting
accomplishments in Heaven? How can you change things up in your life in order to live for
what lasts in eternity?
2. What pleasures are you willing to forgo here on this earth in order to better prepare yourself
for the day when you get to feast with Him in eternity?
3. How are you stewarding your time, money, talents and resources? Are you investing in your
children? Are you being a good steward of the gifts that God has given you? Ask the Lord to
show you an area where you can grow in this.
4. Thank the Lord for what He has shown you today. In His goodness He is helping you now so
that you can enjoy lasting benefits in eternity. What a great God!
