BIBLE IN A YEAR: Isaiah 54-56 and 1 Thess. 3
BIBLE IN A YEAR: Isaiah 54-56 and 1 Thess. 3
THE LONGING FOR GREATNESS
SCRIPTURE READING
Ephesians 1:17-18 (NKJV) [May] the Father of glory...give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know…what are the riches of the glory of [Jesus] inheritance in the saints…
In the above verses, Paul prayed that we will understand the riches of the glory of being Jesus’ inheritance. We need our eyes opened so that we can understand the riches and glory of being Jesus inheritance. You are the object of His desire, He chose you as His inheritance, He chose you for Jesus and Jesus wants to rule and reign with you. When we understand that we are Jesus inheritance, there is a vast wealth that belongs to us! This concept changes us on the inside; it gives us confidence in our greatness and value before God. We see that our greatness is not based on what we look like, how big our ministry is, or how much money we have. We gain internal stability because we understand our greatness before God. Therefore small ministries don’t offend us, waiting won’t offend us because we are anchored in the reality of the riches of the glory of who we are as His inheritance.
PRAYER AND MEDITATION
1. Have you ever thought about how your greatness is related to being Jesus inheritance? How does this change how you feel about yourself?
2. Spend some time meditating on this truth, let it soak into your spirit. Ask the Holy Spirit to deepen your understand the greatness of who you really are based on this reality. Ask Him to anchor you in this truth, that this will change the way you relate to God and live out your life.
3. Ask God to help you grow in holiness and righteousness so that you are worthy of the place you hold in God’s heart. Praise Him for His goodness and never-ending love towards you.
