BIBLE IN A YEAR: Isaiah 18-21 and Philippians 1
BIBLE IN A YEAR: Isaiah 18-21 and Philippians 1
THE LONGING TO BE ENJOYED BY GOD
SCRIPTURE READING
God’s enjoyment of us changes the way we respond when we sin. When believers stumble and sin, most run away from God, beat themselves up with guilt and the last thing they want to do is talk to God. When you have a firm understanding about how God enjoys you this will change your response when you stumble and sin. When we fail and repent, we are fully restored. This gives us a confidence in our relationship with God. This is great news! God enjoys sincere believers, even when they make mistakes, in their immaturity. Society doesn’t understand this characteristic of God. Most see God as a grumpy old man in Heaven, waiting to scold them, and who is disappointed with them. Nothing can be further from the truth. God rescues you because He delights in you.
PRAYER MEDITATION
1. Have you ever felt like you can’t approach God because of your sin?2. Do you feel confident in your relationship with God? If not, spend some time in prayer, asking God to reveal to you what is keeping you from feeling confident in your relationship with Him. Pray about what He shows you.
3. Thank God for His forgiveness and restoration, thank Him for His true character – a God who delights in His people.
