BIBLE IN A YEAR: Isaiah 26-29 and Philippians 3
BIBLE IN A YEAR: Isaiah 26-29 and Philippians 3
THE LONGING TO BE ENJOYED BY GOD
SCRIPTURE READING
Hebrews 12:6 (NIV) the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes everyone he
accepts as a son
One thing that holds back many believers from experiencing all they could be in their
relationship with God is the false belief that they have to have everything figured out all the time. We long to be fully mature and don’t realize that God enjoys us as we are maturing. It’s the journey that matters to God. God knows the difference between a person who has made a mistake due to immaturity and a person that is living in rebellion against Him. The fact that God actually enjoys us while we are struggling in immaturity and growing into maturity is foreign to a lot of believers. As parents, we don’t disqualify our children from the family if they make a mistake, and God doesn’t disqualify us either if we make an immature mistake and are repentant. This changes a fundamental view of Him, God uses our immature mistakes to teach and correct us. When God corrects or disciplines us, He does not reject us. He corrects us because He desires us; this is His love for us shining through.
PRAYER MEDITATION
2. Does the idea of desirability affecting the worth of something make sense to you? Can you see how this makes you extremely desirable because Jesus died for you? Pray that God will continue to reveal this to you and that it will affect how you live your life.
3. Spend some time rejoicing in God’s goodness towards you, how He pursues you like the
women searching for the lost coin. Thank Him for His never-ending kindness towards you.
