BIBLE IN A YEAR: Isaiah 30-32 and Philippians 4

THE LONGING TO BE ENJOYED BY GOD

SCRIPTURE READING
John 15:9 (NIV) As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. In the above verse, Jesus is talking to His disciples; He is telling them a profound truth about God. Jesus is telling them that He has the same love for them that the Father has for Him. Think about this for a while – God loves you in the same way that He loves His own Son. This is astounding! Think about how much the Father loves you. You have not been given salvation merely as a passport to Heaven; Jesus actually has deep love for you. He enjoys you! We must live our lives in such a way as to reflect this profound insight.

John 17:24 (NIV) “Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.

In this prayer, Jesus is revealing to you that He desires to be with you. He wants to dwell with you forever. Our longing to be enjoyed is matched by His longing to enjoy us!

PRAYER  MEDITATION
1. Have you been able to receive the love that God has for you? To what extent?

2. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you in a deeper way how much the Father enjoys you. Ask Him to give you a word, thought or picture about His enjoyment of you.

3. Spend some time thanking God for the love that He has for you, ask Him to continue to reveal this love to you over the next few weeks and months.
