BIBLE IN A YEAR: Isaiah 22-25 and Philippians 2
BIBLE IN A YEAR: Isaiah 22-25 and Philippians 2
THE LONGING TO BE ENJOYED BY GOD
SCRIPTURE READING
light a lamp, sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it? And when she finds
it, she calls her friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my
lost coin.’ In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of
God over one sinner who repents.”
Many believers are living their lives in such a way that shows that they get their value from
their contributions, from DOING stuff for God. When we contribute to a group, we expect
to gain value. The problem is that this value is based on our work not by who we are. It is
different with God; He values us for who we are, not merely for what we do for Him. It is
desirability that determines something’s worth – if multiple people desire an item on eBay
and they all bid on it, the value of that item goes up. By that simple standard, you have
great value because you are desired by God and there was no limit to the price that He
paid for you. The woman in the above parable is a representation of the Father’s love and
desire for you. God loves His children and will go to great depths to pursue them.
PRAYER MEDITATION
1. Are you living your life in such a way that you are getting your value from who you are or by your contributions to society, church, etc?2. Does the idea of desirability affecting the worth of something make sense to you? Can you see how this makes you extremely desirable because Jesus died for you? Pray that God will continue to reveal this to you and that it will affect how you live your life.
3. Spend some time rejoicing in God’s goodness towards you, how He pursues you like the
women searching for the lost coin. Thank Him for His never-ending kindness towards you.
