Isaiah gives us a galaxy of names the Divine Child was to receive at His birth yet uses the singular
– “His NAME shall be called”. It is like these five titles are actually one. As we look at each name,
think of what HOPE this brings to our weary souls! Jesus is worthy of the name Wonderful because
of all He taught and accomplished. He was wonderful in His character and His sinless life. He
is the Divine Counsellor and if we seek His counsel then we shall never walk in darkness. How
grateful should we be that we have His perfect wisdom to guide us? How foolish are we when we
don’t ask for it. We have a Counsellor that can lead us through all the complexities of life, yet do
we ask Him to? The Divine Child was the Mighty God manifest in flesh. He is Everlasting therefore
He can grant us everlasting life. Because He lives for all eternity we can also live, though His grace
we are recipients of eternal bliss. Peace dominates many Messianic prophesies as the prophets
gave the people HOPE. Jesus is the Prince of all aspects of Peace and has full power to bestow
peace upon mankind. Christ became our Peace when He reconciled us to God. Peace with God
has been made by the blood of the Cross. The Saviour is our peace and in accepting Him we
possess peace that the world cannot give or take away from us. Peace from God, peace in God.
PRAYER and MEDITATION
1. Which of the five names of Christ that we looked at today do you need Him to be in your life?
Listen in prayer about how He wants to be that for you today.
2. Spend some time praising Him for all His attributes. What a great God we love and serve!
