FUTURE GLORY
1 Peter 1:11 11Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did
signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow. (KJV)
Scripture is clear that there are two advents of the Messiah. The first one is what we celebrate at
Christmas time, His birth. The second one is what we await, His return to reign on earth. Just
as the events of His first coming were marvellously and minutely fulfilled, His second coming
will receive a like fulfillment. Apathy, indifference, carelessness and lack of understanding of the
events associated with the Second coming will not keep it from occurring. Jesus is returning for
His people and will ultimately set up His everlasting and glorious Kingdom. This provides us with
much HOPE! There is as much prophecy of His coming back to earth a second time as there
was for His first appearance. The cross and suffering (first coming) and the crown and glory
(second coming) belong to the same person and He will come again! The numerous prophecies
concerning Him that have already been fulfilled act as guarantees that all the predictions of His
future appearance and activities will receive like fulfillment. The thought of His return can turn
us from feelings of hopelessness to feelings of joy! For the rest of the month we will be looking
at Jesus as our ultimate hope as we look at what Scripture has to say about the Millennial
Kingdom. What a golden age the Millennial Kingdom will be, when, during the thousand years of
righteousness and peace, every promise and covenant with Abraham and David as well as the
glowing predictions of the prophets, will be literally fulfilled to the uttermost. We have much to be
HOPEFUL about!
PRAYER and MEDITATION
1. Do you see the Second Advent (second coming of Christ) as a hopeful event or do you
struggle with fearing it? If you struggle with fear, ask the Lord to show you why and what you
can do about it.
2. Ask the Lord to open your heart over the next few days to receive the HOPE that He wants to
bestow on you in regards to His second coming. Pray that you would receive it and it would
bring you great joy.
