RULING AS KINGS AND PRIESTS
Revelation 5:10 …have made us kings and priests to our God…we shall reign on the earth. (NKJV)
The Millennial Kingdom is the time when the saints will reign with Jesus on the earth for 1,000
years. He will establish peace and righteousness as this Kingdom will be apparent worldwide
affecting every sphere of life (political, social, agricultural, economic, spiritual, educational, law
enforcement, family, media, arts, technology, athletics, environment, social institutions, etc.). Only
those who are counted worthy (considered faithful) will be made rulers in the age-to-come. Matthew
25 is part of the Olivet Discourse, the context of which is End Times teaching. The parable of the
ten talents is part of this teaching of Christ. In this parable, the Master speaks to the faithful servant
in verse 23 ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you
over much. Enter into the joy of your master. Understanding the context of this passage shows us
that we have the opportunity to rule and reign with Jesus in the Millennial Kingdom. We won’t be
sitting on clouds and playing harps in Heaven, NO! We will be ruling and reigning with Jesus, if we
are faithful in this age. You may never get a chance to be a “somebody” on earth but you can be
a CEO for all eternity if you live your life faithfully! What HOPE this brings to us. We don’t have to
accomplish all sorts of amazing things on earth, we just have to take our talents and use them for
Christ. Whether you have five talents, two talents or one talent, commit to using them to serve the
Lord faithfully and you will be greatly rewarded in eternity.
PRAYER and MEDITATION
1. Have you ever thought about how your choices in this life affect your job in eternity? Does this
excite you or scare you?
2. Are you using your talents so serve yourself or to serve the Lord? If you are using them to
serve the Lord are you listening in prayer regularly to make sure that you are serving Him in
the ways that He requires of you?
3. The HOPE of heavenly rewards really evens the playing field. God is just calling you to be
faithful! Spend some time praising Him and thanking Him for this! Your circumstances don’t
dictate your rewards in eternity, rather your faithfulness does!
