Thinking Rightly About God
Psalm 19:1 The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands. (NIV)

What comes into your mind when you think of God? Commonly we aren’t even sure about our view
of God but our view of God is very important because it determines how we worship Him and how
we live our lives. What we leave unsaid speaks volumes about our belief system. Often people
mistakenly don’t bother with theology, they leave that to those who are intellectuals, preachers and
teachers but this is a great mistake. A right conception of God is crucial to practical Christian living.
Only through painful self-probing are we able to discover what we actually believe about God. This
month, Foundations Daily Devotional will tackle the topic of the attributes of God - who He is and why
those things matter. It is important that we get this right because thinking wrong thoughts about God
is equivalent to idolatry. Our desire as a church is to help you worship, know and love the one True
God and not to worship and love your own image of God. One of the Core values at Southland is to
love and worship God wholeheartedly. How can we love God in this way if we don’t really know who
He is? This month, let the Lord speak to you as you go through each of these devotionals. Ask Him
to broaden your perspective of who He is and take the opportunity to learn to fear Him and love Him
more!

PRAYER and MEDITATION
1. What are some of the things that have shaped your view of who God is?
2. Are you ready and willing to let God probe your heart and your mind as we look at our beliefs
about God and His attributes?
3. Pray that throughout this month you would not just be intellectually stimulated by these
devotionals but that these devotionals would change your thinking and the way you behave.
Pray that you would learn to worship the One True God rightly!
