PEACE ON EARTH
Isaiah 11:6-9 6 The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb…the calf and the young lion and the fatling
together; and a little child shall lead them. 7The cow and the bear shall graze; their young ones
shall lie down together; and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. 8 The nursing child shall play by the
cobra’s hole…9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain, for the earth shall be full of
the knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea. (NKJV)
In today’s news we hear a lot about peace. It seems that all humanity can agree that world
peace is something to strive for. God promises that He will bring world peace and He will do it
through Jesus. When Jesus returns He will bind Satan and begin to establish a new system of
government on earth. This will be the greatest time of peace that the world has ever seen since
Eden. This will include peace not just between nations but peace between all people groups and
even between people and animals. Animosity between animals with each other and with humans
will be removed (Rom. 8:20-21). We know that many animals today are presently carnivorous
(they eat meat) but today’s verses in Isaiah tell us that in the New Earth animals will begin to eat
vegetation so that the animals will not harm one another or harm people. Can you imagine a world
where all creation lives together in harmony and unity! What HOPE we have for this future! Can
you imagine what it will be like for children to play with all the animals on the earth? To know that
nature will no longer destroy or hurt us! What a future we have to look forward to!
PRAYER and MEDITATION
1. How does the future promise of peace on earth sound to you? Does it motivate you to yearn
for Christ’s return?
2. Pray that as a church we would be prepared and ready for Christ’s return and that we would
be part of a huge harvest of souls at the end of this age.
3. Pray that you would be faithful to what God calls you to do in the End Times; that you would
persevere until the end.
