SCRIPTURE READING
Psalm 139:14b (NIV); …Your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
God has knowledge about all things. Every cure that scientists scurry to discover, and every
invention that has yet to be made, is no stroke of genius to God. From eternity past, God has
known everything, yet in His wisdom, He allows His people the delight of discovery. Isn’t that
wonderful? God thought it wise to allow us to discover things. For the most part, understanding
comes through study and hard work. No one wakes up in the morning with a complete
understanding of quantum physics if they have not studied the mechanics, and most car salesmen
wouldn’t suddenly know how to cut and style women’s hair after a good night’s sleep! Wondering
and searching and learning and grasping are all blessings that stem from God’s wisdom. He could
have just plopped knowledge about everything into every person’s lap, but He didn’t. Like a father
watching his child learn to ride a bike, examine how a clock works, or wonder over zoo animals,
God loves to watch His kids uncover mysteries!
God is a God of wonder. He is thrilling to know. Think about the things you find most thrilling – a
brisk fall run, roller coasters, hiking, skydiving – though human hands invented some of these
things, God’s wisdom inspired the tinkering! And everything God does is a reflection of His
character; therefore, He is thrilling! A relationship with the all-wise God is an incredible thing to be
a part of, and the invitation is open to all!
PRAYER and MEDITATION
1. Ask the Lord to show you how He has delighted in watching you learn and discover things,
even though you’ve made mistakes here and there. Ask God to show you His heart for you.
2. How do you describe your relationship with the Lord? Would you use the world “thrilling”?
Why or why not?
3. How can you discover God today? Ask the Holy Spirit how you can raise the “thrill factor” in
your relationship with Him.
