SCRIPTURE READING
2 Corinthians 3:18 (ESV); But we all…beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being
transformed into the same image from glory to glory.

One aspect of faith is choosing over and over again to keep our hearts gazing on Jesus. Our faith is
solid because of the God who we put our faith in. Faith is occupied by the Object upon which it rests.
While we are looking at God we do not see ourselves. There are many spiritual disciples that we can
put into our lives in order to grow our faith. Prayer is a primary method of keeping our eyes focuses
on God and should be practiced by every Christian. Long periods of Bible meditation will purify our
gaze and direct it. Church attendance will enlarge our outlook and increase our love for others.
Service or ministry should be engaged by every Christian. But at the bottom of all of these things will
be the inward habit of beholding God. As we do this a new set of eyes will develop within us enabling
us to be looking at God while our outward eyes are seeing the scenes of the world around us. When
the habit of gazing toward God becomes fixed within us then we will be ushered into a new level of
spiritual life more in keeping with the promises of God and the mood of the New Testament.

PRAYER and MEDITATION
1. Prayer, Bible meditation, Church attendance and ministry are all ways to increase our faith. Ask
the Lord which of these four things He wants to grow in your life. Then ask Him what He would
like you to commit to in this area.
2. What does it mean for you to behold God and gaze at Him? What are some practical things that
you can do in order to behold God more and at a deeper level?
3. Pray that you will obey the things that the Lord has showed you today. Pray that you will learn
to engage with God throughout your day, that you would have your eyes fixed on Him.
