The Law in 90 Days: Leviticus 1-3
SCRIPTURE READING
Proverbs 2:2 (ESV); making your ear attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to
understanding.
Yesterday we learned that we are to receive and treasure the Word of God, today we are going to
look at the importance of inclining our ears to wisdom and our hearts to understanding. We do this
by deciding to obey everything that the Lord shows us in His Word. This will take a supernatural
empowerment by the Holy Spirit. What good is it if we have our daily quiet time just to go out and
do our own thing all day? As we read the Word of God we should be encountering times when we
are convicted of sin. If God hasn’t been convicting you of sin in your devotion time then I would
suggest you change up your devotions or attend an Encounter or call the church for a prayer
counseling session to determine why. Being convicted of sin is a good thing, it means we can
confess it and deal with it and be released from it. Receiving the Word and treasuring the Word
isn’t enough, we have to go all the way and deal with our sin and walk out what God is showing
is in full obedience. Obedience is the Word living in us, ruling in us. Jesus said in John 14:15 “If
you love Me, keep My commandments.” It’s painful to let go of the pleasure and comfort of sin
and let go of bitterness. It’s difficult to face our sin, especially when it seems like something new
is highlighted every time we open up the Word of God. But, it is essential that we pursue Him
wholeheartedly which includes dealing with the sin in our lives. It is only when we begin to see
ourselves in our own spiritual poverty that we can see what Christ has done for us and worship
and glorify Him for Him. This will cause us to cry out for more of Him, a deep hunger and He will
come and satisfy.
PRAYER and MEDITATION
1. Are you willing to let God speak to you about the sin in your life so that you can deal with it
and grow in your walk with Him?
2. Ask the Lord to show you an area of your life where you are not walking in full obedience.
Confess this as sin and commit to obeying God fully in this area.
3. Pray that you would keep pursuing Him wholeheartedly, that you would see what Jesus has
done for you and worship and glorify Him with your life.
