A Chosen People: We
are a Chosen People
Read Psalm 105
This song speaks of God’s faithfulness, reminding us how
He has never forgotten the everlasting covenant He made with His servant,
Abraham. The psalmist recounts the sovereignty of God during the lives of some
of the key players of early Judaism.
The psalm is meant to be a great encouragement and call
to worship for the “offspring of
Abraham”, the “children of Jacob, His
chosen ones”! What is wonderful is that we as Gentile (non-Jewish)
believers can share in these titles and rejoice in our position as a chosen
people! Ephesians 1 speaks of this, saying that we are “in Him” when we believe
and receive the promised Holy Spirit, and being “in Him” we are part of His
chosen people! Therefore, this Psalm of remembrance and praise can be our song,
and we, too, can find great hope in it because the God who was faithful to
Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses and Joshua will be faithful to us, too!

PRAYER AND MEDITATION
1) What are some blessings that we receive
as chosen people? Thank God for your position as one of His children!
2) Using the Overview, go through the Psalm and write down how God showed his
faithfulness to each individual listed. Which storyline speaks most
significantly to you?
3)
Where do you see God’s faithfulness in
your family line, when you think about your extended and immediate family?
Consider how you came to know the Lord and how God used your circumstances to
bring you to that place. Where do you see His hand in your family line? Thank
Him for what He has done and spend some time interceding for any lost family
members you have.
