Prophet’s Reading Plan: Ezekiel 44-45

The Nature of God: Our Majestic Creator
Read Psalm 8

This Psalm teaches us that God is the Creator of all, over and above everything we see in the created world. We are given an important descriptor of Him – He is majestic. He is a royal King, with nobility and authority, and this naturally makes mankind’s rightful position one of servitude, though we often rebel against His kingship. The name of our King – Lord, Yahweh – is all over the earth even though many people will not admit it. His glory – His excellence and splendor – are above even the magnificence we see in a brilliant night sky. And He reveals this majesty and glory through the small and weary, silencing the wicked through the praise of the weak. All that we see in creation is the work of His hand, all the detail and wonder, and yet He chooses to be specifically mindful of us. We are His prize and, though we are lower than the angels, we have been given incredible responsibility and because we are made in the image of our glorious God, we, too, are crowned with glory and honour.

Overview
Verses 1-2: The majesty of the Lord is seen in all the earth
Verses 3-8: Man’s place in God’s creation
Verse 9: The majesty of the Lord is seen in all the earth

PRAYER AND MEDITATION

1)   Focus your thoughts on God as our majestic King. What other traits do you see in Him that accompany this picture? Ask God – your King – if there is anything He would like to say to you today. Respond to Him.
2)   What is an area in your life where you feel weak? Ask God to be glorified in your weakness. Take some time to praise Him in the midst of your weakness. Right now, begin to offer praises to Him for who He is in light of your struggle.
3)   What can you do to keep this image of God as your majestic Creator in the front of your mind today?
