Prophet’s
Reading Plan: Daniel
1-2
The Nature of God: The
Unchangeableness of God
Read Psalm 102
This Psalm reminds us that, though we may experience
great trouble, God remains unchanging, eternally trustworthy. He pities, He hears, He sets free, He remains. This Psalm sets our temporary afflictions against the
eternity of God, giving us a glimpse of a truth that Paul would later write: 1
Corinthians 4:17 “For this light
momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all
comparison, as
we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For
the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are
eternal.” What an incredible and important truth!
Let us remember that our God and everything about Him is
eternal. His faithfulness, creativity, righteousness, sovereignty, etc. is eternal; these things do not come and
go! And praise Him that we have been given an eternal destiny in His presence,
in His city!

PRAYER AND MEDITATION
1)
What are some things about God that you
are so glad remain unchanged? Why?
2) What are some of your temporary
afflictions? Can you relate to any of the psalmist’s phrases? How can you find
hope and comfort in what you’ve read today?
3) We can trust God with the future because
of who we know Him to be today! Ask God to speak to you about a specific
characteristic of His that you will need to cling to in the future. Thank Him for this trait of His
and that it is unchanging!
