Read 2 Timothy 2
“Of all the commandments, which is the most important?” “The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘… Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength’” (Mark 12:28-30). We see this commandment echoed in 2 Timothy 2. Paul urged Timothy to serve God with all of his strength. Obeying God and walking in righteousness isn’t always easy – it often requires effort. God expects us to love Him with everything we have. However, in His mercy He doesn’t expect us to be perfect. He knows we fall short, so He offers us His grace to make up for all that we lack in serving Him.

Prayer and
Meditation
1.
Re-read
verse 4. Ask God to reveal any areas where you’re so involved in your personal
affairs or the happenings of the world that you’ve neglected to serve His
kingdom. Confess and ask Him to show you how you can improve in that area.
2.
We
are told to avoid “worldly and empty chatter, for it will lead to further
ungodliness” (vs 16). Ask God to show you how you can be more intentional with
your speech.
3.
Pray
for the children in our church family. Many of them are passionate followers of
Jesus. Pray that they would all grow to be diligent workers for His kingdom.
