Prophet’s Reading Plan: Ezekiel 17-19

Hymns of Praise

Read: Psalm 33

This Psalm is a hymn of praise to God.  Verses 1-3 tell us to shout, give, and sing to the Lord.  Why?  Because of His character (vs. 4-9); His Word is upright, He loves righteousness and justice, He is loving and He is Creator; because His plans stand forever and are good; and because of His Sovereignty and care for those who fear Him.  This is why we can sing, this is why we can shout for joy, and this is why we can have confidence.  This is “Who” we put our hope in!  The Lord of the universe has His eye on you (vs. 18)! Those who fear God need not fear anything else.  Let’s fix our faith upon Him and let His love pour down on us.  The godly rely on Him, He is their shield.  Because of this, their hearts are glad and rejoice.  The fruit of faith is rejoicing in the Lord.

Overview:
Verses 1-3: A Call to Praise Him
Verses 4-9:  Praise Him because of His Character
Verses 10-12: Praise Him because His will Prevails
Verses 13-19: Praise Him because of His Care
Verses 20-22: Confidence in the Lord

PRAYER AND MEDITATION
1.   Thank the Lord for His Word which is upright, for His love of righteousness and justice, for being loving, for His plans which stand forever and for His Sovereignty and care for those who fear Him.
2.   What other things can you thank the Lord for today?
3.   Pray that these things would sink deep into your heart and would birth in you a deeper confidence in the Lord, that you would find rest in the Lord.
