Prophet’s Reading Plan: Ezekiel 20-21
Hymns of Praise
Read: Psalm 145
Today’s
Psalm is the last Psalm written by David.
It is a personal Psalm of praise from David to God but can be used as a
model when it comes to our own admiration of the Lord. David is determined that his praise should
intelligently glorify the name of the Lord every day (vs. 2). This would include both easy and tough days
because our praise is not based on our circumstances but rather the character
of God. There should be a tradition of
instructing the next generation in the good deeds of the Lord (vs. 4). Do you tell your kids the great things God
has done for you? God is to be praised because
He is good to all (vs. 9), even the wicked.
His mercies are seen everywhere in His works.
Overview:
Verses 1-7: David praises God for His great deeds
Verses 8-10: David praises God for His goodness
Verses 11-13: David praises God
for His Everlasting Kingdom
Verses 14-16: David praises God
for His Provision
Verses 17-21: David praises God
for His saving mercy
PRAYER
AND MEDITATION
1.
Read
through the Psalm again – what are some of the attributes of God in which the
Psalmist is mediating on? (Example, His
greatness (vs. 3), His mighty acts (vs. 4), etc.).
2. Verses
14-16 talk about God’s provision. In
what ways has God supplied your needs?
3. Write
a list of ten things that you can be thankful to the Lord for. These can be practical things but also try to
include some of His attributes. These
should all be things that you have experienced in your life.
